Can I make these Slow-Cooked Short Ribs ahead of time for a special occasion?

Absolutely! Slow Roasted Beef Short Ribs with a Mushroom Sauce reheats beautifully. You can prepare it a day in advance and warm it up when you’re ready to serve.

Can I use a different type of mushroom in the sauce?

While button mushrooms work wonderfully, you can experiment with other varieties like cremini, shiitake, or even wild mushrooms for a more complex flavor.

What’s the ideal wine for deglazing the pot?

A dry red wine, such as Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot, complements the beef and mushroom flavors beautifully. It doesn’t need to be an expensive wine, either!

Can I use bone-in short ribs instead of boneless short ribs?

Certainly, bone-in short ribs can add even more flavor. Adjust the cooking time as needed to ensure they become tender.

Substitutions + Alternatives

Can I use regular dairy?

Feel free to make this recipe your own. I use dairy-free milk, but feel welcome to choose your preferred dairy option without any recipe adjustments. Unless specified otherwise, you have the flexibility to use the milk of your choice for the recipe.

Note: While almond milk is an option, it is less preferred due to its liquid consistency. Consider opting for a milk alternative with a thicker texture.
