Red beans and rice is a classic Creole dish traditionally made on Mondays. It would simmer away all day as the dried beans softened and the sauce thickened. Infused with Cajun spices and the fresh flavors of the trinity, onions, celery, bell pepper, and garlic, it just deepens in flavor the longer it cooks.

This recipe takes all of the classic flavors and updates it in a weeknight friendly way. Canned red beans make this dish come together in well under an hour.

Adding flavor, texture, and protein while also making this dish extra hearty is Laura’s Lean Beef. Laura’s Beef never has any added hormones or antibiotics. Naturally leaner and lower in fat, I always feel good about adding it to any of my recipes.

Rounding out the flavors is tomato paste for both a little sweetness and depth. Smoky paprika and earthy cumin bring flavor without spice that balances the Cajun seasoning. Just serve with rice and The Best Gluten Free Cornbread and you have a complete meal!
