What are your favorite burger toppings? I don’t know about you but sometimes the toppings are just as fun as the burgers themselves. These Dairy Free Cream Cheese and Jalapeno Jelly Burgers are that perfect combination of a little bit sweet with a kiss of heat.

Dairy Free Cream Cheese and Jalapeno Jelly Burgers

Burgers are such a great canvas for playing with flavors and having fun. They allow us to explore different flavor and texture combinations. Sometimes something we wouldn’t normally think about eating becomes enticing, simply because it’s piled on a burger.

Sweet with Heat

The star of this dish is the sweet and spicy jalapeno jelly. While this jelly is perfect for topping cream cheese as an appetizer it’s equally at home on a burger. You can find the recipe for the appetizer version on my blog post for Dairy Free Smoked Cream Cheese with Triple Pepper Jelly.

This is a recipe that you can easily double, and should. Make if for these burgers, and have fun using it in endless other ways.

The jalapenos in this recipe are joined by an earthy poblano and fruity, fiery habanero. The heat of the peppers is tempered however from both roasting them, and then being cooked down with sugar. Apple cider vinegar provides a nice tang to compliment the sweet and heat.

Building Your Dairy Free Cream Cheese and Jalapeno Jelly Burgers

It’s easy to prepare the jalapeno jelly for these burgers ahead of time. This is good if you plan on using the jelly for something else.

When it comes to making the jelly, you are going to start by roasting your peppers at a high heat. Once they are roasted you’re going to remove the seeds and also any excess skin that’s too charred. It easily brushes off with a paper towel.

Next, chop the peppers and add them to a pot with the rest of the jelly ingredients. This includes a packet of unflavored gelatin. The gelatin helps the jelly thicken and get that syrupy consistency. Perfect for dripping down a burger. Allow it to simmer until it reaches your desired thickness. It only takes about 20-30 minutes.

I recommend making beef burgers for this recipe, but make what you like. You can also cook your burgers in your favorite method because it’s all about the toppings! Make sure you toast your gluten Free bun!
