Meal Prep & Ingredient Swaps

A serving of Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy is topped generously and served alongside creamy mashed potatoes on a white plate.

Classic Salisbury Steak: Ground turkey is a leaner alternative with a slightly different flavor that works well in this recipe. Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or buttered.

A bowl of Taco Pasta Salad with rotini pasta, ground meat, chopped lettuce, tomatoes, kidney beans, cheese, and crumbled tortilla chips is served on a rustic wooden surface.

Taco Pasta Salad: If you’re not a fan of Thousand Island dressing, you can use ranch, Italian dressing, or even a homemade vinaigrette. Each will give the salad a slightly different flavor, but all will be delicious!

Kung Pao Chicken: Serve with a side of chicken fried rice. Chinese black vinegar is traditional, but balsamic vinegar is a solid backup. Both add depth and a bit of sweetness to the sauce, so use what you have on hand.

Copycat In-N-Out Burger: Swap the beef for ground chicken or turkey for leaner alternative that still crisps up nicely when smashed. Use a beef-style veggie burger like Impossible or Beyond for a vegetarian take.

A Greek Sheet-Pan Chicken Bake featuring roasted chicken thighs, sliced potatoes, red bell peppers, and fresh thyme. Seasoned with black pepper and herbs, the ingredients turn golden and slightly crispy in the oven.

Greek Sheet-Pan Chicken Bake: Feel free to use other vegetables like zucchini, cherry tomatoes, or carrots according to your preference. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts can be used instead of thighs, but ensure not to overcook them to keep them juicy.

A round cake covered with white frosting and decorated with chopped nuts around the sides. Inspired by a Carrot Cake Cheesecake Recipe, five swirls of piped frosting top the cake, displayed on a white plate on a wooden table.

Carrot Cake Cheesecake: I use dairy-free milk, but feel welcome to choose your preferred dairy option without any recipe adjustments. This cheesecake is often even better after chilling overnight, allowing the flavors to meld.
