Commonly Asked Questions

Can I make these taquitos ahead of time?

These taquitos are best enjoyed fresh out of the pan, but you can definitely assemble them ahead of time to save on prep work later. Once you’ve filled and rolled the tortillas, place them on a baking sheet in a single layer and freeze for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to cook them, simply thaw them in the refrigerator for a few hours or bake them from frozen at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and heated through.

Do I have to fry the taquitos?

Frying is the traditional way to cook taquitos, but if you’re looking for a healthier option, you can also bake them! Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly brush the taquitos with oil. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, flipping them halfway through.

Can I store and reheat leftover taquitos?

Yes, you can store leftover taquitos! Once cooked and cooled, place them in an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, you can either fry them again in a pan with a little oil for a few minutes per side until crispy, or bake them in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 10-15 minutes, or until heated through. Be aware that reheated taquitos may not be quite as crispy as fresh ones.
