Easy Hot Cross Buns

This Eastertime favorite filled with warm spices, orange, and dried fruit is made easy with storebought sweet rolls.

  • 1 Baking Dish
  • 2 mixing bowls
  • 1 piping bag

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  • Cut a slice down the middle of your roll, careful not to cut all the way to the bottom. Rotate the roll and cut a slice from top to bottom, careful not to cut all the way through. This will form a cross. Repeat with the remaining rolls.
  • Add the softened butter, allspice, cinnamon, currants, and orange zest to a bowl. Mix to combine.
  • Press the butter mixture into the rolls, filling the cross.
  • Place the rolls into a baking dish.
  • Let the rolls bake for 7-10 minutes until lightly golden brown. Let cool slightly.
  • Add the powdered sugar and orange juice to a bowl. Mix until smooth.
  • Pipe the glaze onto the top of the buns to form a cross. Enjoy!
