Classic Sloppy Joes

Equipment

  • 1 skillet with lid

Ingredients

  • 1 lbs ground beef
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp date syrup or maple syrup
  • 3/4 tsp mustard powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add your ground beef. Use your spoon to break it up as it cooks, allowing it to cook about halfway.
  • Add your onions and bell pepper. Cook it until the onions are translucent and the beef is cooked all the way through.
  • Add your remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Cover your skillet.
  • Allow the mixture to cook for 10 minutes. If the sauce reduces too much add a little more water.
  • Serve on your favorite buns.
  • Enjoy!
